The Carolian Elocution and Literary Association is one of the platforms of St. Charles Seminary, which commenced in 1997 with St. Francis Xavier as its patron saint. Its main objective is to equip the brothers in formation to become eloquent preachers and teachers in their future ministries as priests. The inaugural ceremony commenced at 8:30 p.m. in Aula Magna on July 4, 2023.
Rev. Fr. Roby Mathew, O.P., was the chief guest. Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha O.P., the Rector of St. Charles Seminary; Rev. Fr. Saju Kochuparambil O.P., the Director of CELA; Br. Donald Remi J., the Co-Director of CELA; and Dn. James Ekka, the General Prefect, were the other distinguished guests seated on the dais. Br. Anuj Minj of 2nd-year philosophy compared the whole ceremony. The dignitaries lit the lamp, accompanied by a prayer song sung by the choir. Br. Roshan Lakra of 3rd-year philosophy welcomed the dignitaries and the gathering, followed by the report presentation of the concluding meet of CELA 2022–23 by Br. Rafael Lalthantluanga of 2nd-year philosophy. Rev. Fr. Roby Mathew, O.P., addressed the gathering, expressing the importance of CELA and its activities through a biblical parable, and officially announced the commencement of CELA for the academic year 2023–24.
The finance account was presented by Br. Zen Rokky of 2nd year philosophy, followed by the selection of an executive member to CELA from the 1st year philosophy students by picking a ballot by the chief guest. Br. Bablu Prabhu Kisku of 1st-year philosophy was selected. Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha, O.P., the Rector, delivered a message encouraging the brothers to participate and perform well in the events organized by CELA. Br. Donald Remi J., the co-director, presented the new rules and regulations and brief information on the events to be hosted by CELA. Br. Rajesh Tudu of 3rd-year philosophy delivered the vote of thanks. The ceremony concluded with the CELA anthem and the distribution of refreshments.
