The Inter-House Debate Competition 2024–2025 at St. Charles Seminary was an intellectually stimulating event that encouraged seminarians to critically engage with relevant social, theological, and pastoral issues. With enthusiastic participation from all houses, the competition fostered skills in public speaking, logical reasoning, respectful dialogue, and articulate expression—essential tools for future pastoral leaders.
Participants debated on thought-provoking and timely topics, presenting well-researched arguments, counterpoints, and rebuttals with clarity and confidence. The event highlighted the importance of listening, critical thinking, and the ability to defend one’s viewpoint with respect and integrity.
The panel of judges for the competition comprised priests from the seminary community, whose pastoral experience and academic insight provided valuable feedback and encouragement. Their presence added depth to the evaluation process, offering perspectives grounded in both wisdom and ecclesial understanding.
More than a contest, the debate served as a formative experience, empowering seminarians to become thoughtful communicators and responsible voices in the Church and society.
