Christmas is here again! May your heart be filled with laughter, contentment, harmony, peace, and love.
Every Christmas brings with it its own joy and happiness and abundance of blessings. It is also time for many activities and noise around us. But covid19 has limited our celebration only to us in our campus, a simple celebration yet more meaningful. As Pope Francis mentioned in one of his general audience, “Have a Christmas in silence and listen to His Words”. Other than the external preparation and decoration our Christmas celebration began with the evening Vespers at 7.40 pm in the main chapel. After a while the choir started singing Christmas Carols at 8.45 pm which indeed brought tremendous joy and set the mood of Christmas, followed by the solemn vigil mass at 9.30 pm. Fr. Aquin Noronha O.P., the Rector, presided over the mass and prayed for all. After the mass the statue of child Jesus was carried in procession and was placed in the Crib made creatively by the second year Philosophy students in St. Dominic’s Garden.
Soon after the celebration of Holy Mass, the staff and the students gathered together in the Philosophers’ refectory to share the joy of Christmas with one another by singing carols and cutting of the cake by the Rector and the staff. This sharing of Christmas joy continued for some time by singing and dancing by both the staff and the students.
