Indeed, St. Charles Seminary was very much delighted to welcome the relic of Pope St. John Paul II on Monday, 24th July 2023. The purpose of the veneration was to seek the intercession and guidance of Pope St. John Paul II in preparation for the mega retreat, Jago India at the national level organised by Jesus Youth which is going to take place in October 2023 in Bangalore.
The event began at 2 pm with a procession from the entrance of the Seminary. Fr. Saju Kochuparambil, O.P., the vice-rector, received the relic and took it in a solemn procession to Seminary’s main chapel. Jesus Youth members gave the introduction and explained the purpose of the veneration followed by a prayer service. The service began with an introductory prayer by Fr. Saju followed Fr. Roby Mathew, O.P. who read the Gospel and gave the beautiful reflection on Pope St. John Paul II. There was a documentary video presentation on the life of Pope followed by intercessory prayers and Divine Mercy Chaplet. The prayer service was concluded by kissing the relic. Finally, Fr. Aquin Noronha, O.P., the Rector, proposed a vote of thanks. It was a spirit-filled prayer service. The staff, students of resident and non-residents, religious sisters, rectors from all the study houses witnessed this prayerful event.
