The Carolian Elocution and Literary Association is one of the platforms of St. Charles Seminary, which commenced in the year 1997 with St. Francis Xavier as its Patron Saint. Its main objective is only to equip the brothers in formation to become eloquent preachers and teachers in their future ministries as priests.
The inaugural ceremony of CELA was organized on the 7th of July, 2022 Thursday at 8:30 PM, in Aula Magna for the academic year 2022-23.
The event was enhanced by the presence of four eminent personalities who came up to grace the occasion with their esteemed presence, namely Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha OP, the Rector of St. Charles Seminary, Rev. Fr. Saju Kochuparambil OP, the Director of CELA, Rev. Dn. Brayan John Falleira, the General Prefect and Rev. Bro. Roy Tomy, the Co-Director of CELA committee. On that solemn occasion, Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha OP was the Chief Guest and the entire ceremony was emceed by Bro. Soumik Mondal, the Second year brother of philosophy.
The event was initiated through a Gospel reading followed by the lighting of the lamb. The whole assembly felt at home at the gracious words of welcome by Bro. Alok Minj. Each and everyone gave their attentive ear to the report of the concluding ceremony of CELA as it was read out by Bro. Rajesh Naskar, the Secretary of CELA. Then, a short PPT on the history and the constitutions of CELA was depicted in a video format by Bro. Augustine.
On the other side, Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha OP, being the Chief Guest, delivered an exceptional and heart-touching talk in which he specifically emphasized the significance of CELA activities. He also mentioned in his talk that one who speaks well can also preach well. The presentation of the account of CELA by Br. Vikash Bhuriya, the Treasurer of CELA, was approved. Another encouraging moment of the day was the message of the Director Rev. Fr. Saju Kochuparembil OP, in which he declared the norms and regulations of CELA as well as the essay writing competition process among the batches, procedures of the ordinary meetings and inspired them to become competitive ministers as we share in the mission of Jesus by focusing on spirituality and preaching.
As per the tradition of CELA, Bro. Dinesh Khadiya, a student from first year philosophy, was elected to the executive body of CELA. It was also noted that there was a declaration of CELA open, season 2022-2023 by the Chief Guest followed by the cutting of the cake. Bro. Rajesh Naskar, the Secretary of CELA, came forward and proposed the vote of thanks to all those who made this inaugural occasion a great success and a memorable one. Ultimately, the inaugural ceremony of CELA came to an end through CELA anthem followed by refreshments.
