Inaugural Mass and Lecture 2022- 2023

St. Charles Seminary was certainly happy resumed academic year of 2022-23 as planned unlike that last two years. Most of the resident student brothers arrived the seminary on or before 17th June 2022. There was a five days annual retreat which helped the brothers to begin the academic year on a truly spiritual note.

On 25th June 2022, the Seminary had its inaugural mass and ceremony of 2022- 2023. The seminary invited all the students – resident and non-residents – as well as the fathers from various study houses to participate in the holy mass. On that day at 8.30 the votive mass of the Holy Spirit was presided over by Most Rev. Elias Gonsalves, the Archbishop of Nagpur and was con-celebrated by Staff members, Rectors of the Study houses and Superiors of the houses. The Archbishop prayed for the seminary staff and students. He gave a thought provoking and challenging homily in which he emphasized commitment to formation in view of the mission ahead.

Soon after the Holy Mass and refreshments the fathers and students went to the seminary auditorium for the inaugural ceremony. The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp, while brothers sang a prayer song. Br. Roy Tony welcomed the gathering. Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha O.P. the Rector of the Seminary, read out the Annual report of 2021-22. There was an inaugural lecture on “Eucharistic Theology in the Writings of St. Ignatius of Antioch” by Fr. Charles Savarimuthu O.P. The entire gathering received well the scholarly and scientific presentation of the paper. Soon after the lecture Most Rev. Elias Gonsalves, the Archbishop of Nagpur addressed the students and spoke about the challenges of world facing today and vocation. The entire event was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dn. Brayan then all the students stood and sang the Seminary anthem.
