With this missionary objective in mind St. Charles Seminary, under the patronage of St. Theresa of Child Jesus, the Patroness of the Missions, formed the association named Pushpa Hindi Samiti. This platform provides opportunities to the Philosophy brothers to become proficient in Hindi so that they could, in the course of time, with ease and efficiency preach the Word of God effectively among the Hindi speaking mission stations in North and Central India. It is customary that at the beginning of the academic year an inaugural session is organized to keep up the zeal for mission by improving our skills in writing and public speaking.

This pleasant event of inaugurating Pushpa Hindi Samiti took place this year in the evening on 17th August 2021. Present at the meeting were the resident brothers of Philosophy department, Rev. Fr. Rajen Lakra OP, the director, Rev. Dn. Nicodim, the general prefect, Br. Yacub the co-director of the Pushpa Hindi Samiti. A melodious Bhajan at the beginning of the meeting, in honor of the Holy Spirit, reminded us that we need to take the touch of God at the beginning of every act because we are human and depend on God’s grace to complete what we begin. The chief guest of the day was Rev. Fr. Harixson OP. He motivated the gathering with his impressive speech and advised the brothers value language and focus on communication skills to be successful in our mission activities. He remined them that formation in the Seminary is the apt period to recognize these skills, nurture them as brothers prepare for the ministry of missionary priests. In his speech he also added that we must be always in search of various ways of evangelization. The Word of God can be proclaimed not only by preaching homilies but also by writings, fine arts and many more forms.

It was the turn of the secretary then to present the report of the closing ceremony of the Pushpa Hindi Samiti 2020 – 21, followed by the account presentation by treasurer. The president read out the rules and regulations of the Pushpa especially for the sake of the first Year Philosophy brothers who are now members of the Pushpa Hindi Samiti. The last official item on this inaugural meeting day was to elect a representative from the first-year philosophy and Br. Mithu Kumar of Patna Diocese was elected. We congratulate him and wish him all the best as he joins the team of office bearers in planning and organizing various activities during the academic year. The program was ended with the Pushpa Anthem. We are confident that St. Theresa of Child Jesus would intercede for us and God would bless our efforts in becoming zealous missionaries in the Church.

Br.
